The Wood Turning Center is an art and educational institution whose mission is the growth, encouragement and enhancement of individuals creating art from wood and other materials with a primary focus on turned and carved wood objects, and the appreciation of such art. As a 501(c)3 charitable arts and educational institution, its mission is accomplished through educational programs, acquisition of collections, preservation and promotional activities.
Education:
  • To foster the creative and technical development of artists, craftspersons and students.
  • To offer state-of-the-art and historical information to artists, academics, educators, curators, collectors and all other interested individuals or groups.
  • To provide appreciation for and knowledge of the art to the public, collectors, and museum and private gallery personnel.
Preservation:
  • To collect and preserve the products, equipment and techniques related to the art.
  • To secure the past, present and future history of art created from wood and other materials, and make it accessible to artists, educators, collectors and students for study, exhibition and publication.
Promotion:
  • To increase awareness and appreciation of the art by the general public, academics, collectors, educators, specialists, and students, through exhibitions, conferences, seminars, meetings, publications and membership opportunities.
  • To encourage the acquisition of art created from wood and other materials by individuals, corporations and museums, and other interested institutions.
  • To interact with, and bring together individuals, groups and organizations having an interest in such art objects.
